Why is high borosilicate glass thinner than ordinary glass
1. Different raw material composition: The main components of high borosilicate glass are boron trioxide and silicon dioxide. The content of silicon dioxide is higher than that of ordinary glass, with boron content even reaching 14% and silicon content reaching 80%. The silicon content of ordinary flat glass is about 70%, and generally no boron is added, but sometimes up to 1% is also added.
2. Different ability to withstand cold and hot impact: The boron and silicon materials used in high borosilicate glass actually replace a large amount of harmful heavy metal ion components in raw glass, thereby improving the cold and hot impact resistance of the glass. Therefore, the cold and hot impact resistance of high borosilicate glass is different from that of ordinary glass.
3. Different uses:
1.High borosilicate glass is mainly used in household appliances (glass panels inside ovens, microwave trays, furnace panels, etc.);
2. Environmental engineering, chemical engineering (resistant lining, chemical reactor, safety mirror);
3. Lighting (protective glass for spotlights and high-power floodlighting fixtures);
4. Solar power generation (solar cell substrate);
5. Precision instruments (optical filters);
6. Semiconductor technology (chips, display glass);
7. Medical technology and bioengineering;
8. Safety protection (bulletproof glass). Ordinary glass is widely used in embedded building doors and windows, walls, interior decoration, etc.
