What is the difference between high borosilicate glass products, plastic products, and ceramic products?
Experts suggest that the preferred drinking container should be a glass. The director of the Health Water Professional Committee of the China Association for the Promotion of Medical Technology has listed the characteristics of glass cups: glass cups do not contain organic chemicals during the firing process. When people drink water or other drinks from glass cups, there is no need to worry about chemicals being drunk into their stomachs. Moreover, the glass surface is smooth and easy to clean, and bacteria and dirt are easy to grow on the cup wall. Therefore, drinking water from glass cups is the healthiest and safest.
But for cups made of other materials, experts have raised doubts. Colorful ceramics are very likable, but in fact, there are huge hidden dangers in those bright pigments, especially when the inner wall is coated with glaze. When the cup is filled with boiling water or drinks with high acidity or alkalinity, toxic heavy metal elements such as lead in these pigments can easily dissolve into the liquid, causing harm when people drink liquids containing chemicals. Plasticizers are often added to plastics, which contain some toxic chemicals. When heated in plastic cups, it can create water for the human body or when boiled, the toxic chemicals are easily diluted into the water, and the internal microstructure of plastics has many pores with hidden pollutants, which can easily breed bacteria if not cleaned thoroughly
